Note for IIITians:This is a copy-paste from my mail to students. So, skip it if you already have read it.

I don't think one needs to remind the importance of vote, and the difference it makes when cast responsibly by every sensible citizen of a country with nearly half it's population termed as youth.

To make it easier for students studying away from home, A.P Govt has taken a nice step. According to this, the college will be handed the responsibility(I guess voluntary) of availing the application forms and student study certificates which are needed, to register for vote as a student.

According to this article, the filled applications have to be submitted before 18th of this month. So, if the administration in your respective college could take this responsibility and provide such a facility on campus, you could fill them all and collectively submit them, which is easier than going individually. The same article says there are 35 Lakh such students. I hope you understand that it's quite serious to make sure majority of them make use of their right to vote.

I'm not sure if such a facility is there for non-A.P students. If anybody has any info on that please do share it.
